I’ve had this scissor arm since August of 2021 and figured it was due for a review.

Do I have any regrets? Is it a good value?

Let’s dive in and find out.

In the world of audio recording and content creation, few tools are as fundamental and often underestimated as the humble microphone stand.

It’s the unsung hero that holds your microphone firmly in place, ensuring that your voice, music, or podcast reaches your audience with crystal-clear clarity.

Yet, not all microphone stands are created equal, and the choice of the right stand can significantly impact the quality of your recordings.

I’ve had experience with a few different types over the years: The standard boom arm, the heavier-than-a-jet engine desktop stand, and of course, the scissor sister arm.

My boom arm right before I sold it in 2015.

Among the myriad options available, scissor-arm microphone stands emerge as a practical and space-saving choice.

These stands, characterized by their ingenious design, offer a solution to two common problems faced by creators: desk space consumption and awkward positioning.

Enter the InnoGear

The InnoGear Microphone Scissor Arm Stand is a versatile and robust accessory designed to elevate your recording or streaming setup.

With its sturdy construction and impressive flexibility, it has become a popular choice among content creators and musicians alike.

In this detailed review,

we’ll dive into the key features of this scissor arm stand, highlighting its strengths and pointing out potential drawbacks, ultimately helping you decide if it’s worth the investment.

So let’s roll.

Build Quality and Design

Blue Snowball vs. Snowball Ice vs. Yeti

The InnoGear Microphone Scissor Arm Stand boasts a well-crafted design, primarily composed of durable steel.

Its matte black finish adds a touch of professionalism to your workspace, and as you can see above, I really needed it LOL.

I’m actually recording in a different spot now so don’t judge me. 🙂

When handling the stand, you can immediately feel its sturdiness and solidity.

The construction is robust, ensuring your microphone stays securely in place during recordings.

Installation and Compatibility

Setting up the InnoGear Microphone Scissor Arm Stand is fairly straightforward.

It comes with a C-clamp mount that easily attaches to most desk surfaces and a 5/8″ metal adapter for attaching microphones with different threading sizes.

This metal adapter can also be tightened or loosened as you explore the best possible angle for your microphone.

This flexibility ensures compatibility with a wide range of microphones, making it a versatile choice for various applications.

Adjustability and Flexibility

The scissor arm stand’s adjustability is one of its standout features, allowing you to position your microphone precisely where you need it.

However, this is also where a minor issue arises.

While the stand’s adjustability is excellent, the 180-degree foldable upper arm mechanism can be somewhat tight.

Adjusting the arm requires some force, which can be unsettling at first.

It gives the impression that you might break something when making adjustments.

Over time, you may get accustomed to it, but the initial experience can be a bit nerve-wracking.

The 360-degree rotatable base is also pretty convenient, as you can pretty much rotate the entire thing how you want and it will accommodate.

From there, the bottom arm can fold 135 degrees either way which also adds a nice element of flexibility.

Again, it’s a bit stiff and could use a little more give, but all in all, I can’t complain much.

Stability

Once you’ve got the microphone in the desired position, the InnoGear Scissor Arm Stand excels in stability.

It effectively minimizes vibrations and handling noise, ensuring your recordings are clean and free from unwanted disturbances.

This level of stability is essential for professional audio production.

In fact,

the overall max load the arm can handle is rather impressive and you likely won’t have any issues with even the heaviest of dumbbell microphones.

Cable Management & Accessories

InnoGear includes 4 Velcro strips for tying your cables, and the scissor arm stand also includes a built-in cable management system.

This thoughtful addition helps keep your recording area tidy and prevents cable interference with your microphone or workspace.

However, managing thicker or multiple cables can be a bit challenging due to the limited space provided.

Value for Money

Considering its durability, versatility, and overall performance, the InnoGear Microphone Scissor Arm Stand offers excellent value for money.

It’s an affordable option that doesn’t skimp on quality.

So no, no RAGRETS here.

Closing Thoughts

The InnoGear as seen with the MXL 990 in my new recording space.

The InnoGear Microphone Scissor Arm Stand is a reliable and well-built accessory for any content creator, musician, or podcaster.

Its sturdy construction, compatibility with various microphones, and stability during use make it an excellent choice for those looking to improve their audio recording setup.

The only minor drawback is its adjustment mechanism, which can be somewhat tight and intimidating for newcomers.

However, with practice, this issue can be easily overcome.

Overall, if you’re seeking an affordable yet dependable scissor arm stand to elevate your audio recording game, the InnoGear Microphone Scissor Arm Stand is a strong contender and a fantastic value.

With over 6,400 reviews and an excellent star rating, this piece is a rather easy purchase in my mind.
